Featured in Orange
County Homes Magazine, this
iconic custom mid century
modern estate was designed
by one of Orange County's
premier early architects
Philmer J. Ellerbroek. The
Ellerbroek house was
originally designed as a
model home for a California
lifestyle. A way of
life that is a celebration
of family and friends while
making the most of Orange
County’s wonderful climate.
The home has been
meticulously restored and
updated by the current
owner. It’s timeless
architectural design
features embrace the
surrounding natural
environment by providing
direct access to the
exterior pool, garden and
courtyard spaces. Walls of
glass further enhance the
views connecting the inside
with the outside.
Sustainable design ideas
were used to maximize
natural daylight and cross
ventilation creating a
tranquil healthy
environment. The generous
rooms in the home are
organized in a floor plan
that provides flexible areas
for entertaining large
groups while providing two
separate bedroom suites for
privacy. The master suite
can be closed off from the
house and features “his and
hers” master bedrooms with a
walk-in closet, ample
storage and access to a
private outdoor patio. The
master bath features a
sunken tub and shower below
a skylight. The children's
suite features three
bedrooms and two large
bathrooms. Downstairs the
bedroom is large with direct
access to the garden while
the bathroom provides two
sinks and a shower. Upstairs
the two bedrooms share an
oversized bathroom with two
sinks and a separate shower
and tub. The windows and
balcony in the bedrooms
provide an elevated view of
the garden and mature trees.
Terrazzo flooring unites the
living, family, dining and
kitchen areas emphasizing
the home’s spacious feel.
Custom built walnut
architectural screens
separate the living room
from the dining room while
maintaining a sense of
openness and views. The
oversized kitchen features
updated stainless steel
appliances built into the
original walnut cabinetry.
This home is immersed in its
large site defined by mature
landscaping, nestled at the
end of a private cul de sac
in North Tustin Hills. The
exceptional street presence
of the house is complemented
with a circular drive that
ascends from the street
level up to the raised entry
gate and carport canopy.
Beyond the 10’ entry gates
exists a private courtyard
and fountain that leads to
the home's grand entry
doors. Beyond the entry, the
house and gardens unfold
into a place where people
and nature are brought in
sync.
