What is
reverse logistics? |
| |
Forward
logistics is simple. Receive a box, store it and ship it
out. Reverse logistics is a little more
complex.
Reverse logistics is defined as "all operations related to
the reuse of products and materials." Whether or
not that means taking a product back, redeploying a
product, or managing the processes of ensuring data
privacy and environmental standards are met. |

Without a clear reverse
logistics strategy, any organization puts itself at a
risk of loss. Losses can come from areas like
losing re-sell value on returned items, or from bearing
the cost of unnecessary transportation and handling, or
even from the lost opportunity that exists in selling
the product that is returned.
This site is dedicated to my thoughts and ideas about
reverse logistics, and managing secondary markets to
sell and dispose of surplus, returned and end-of-life
products.. |
